This conference will bring leading experts and political leaders from Europe and the Americas together to discuss the problems of debt and development in the wake of the Greek drama of Spring, 2015 and the ongoing political and economic turmoil in the Eurozone as well as in South America. It will provide a chance to hear first hand from some of the most influential new voices in the political and economic life of both regions.

YSI Workshop, November 4

YSI is hosting a workshop following the conference, in which young scholars will have the opportunity to present their work and receive feedback from some of the conference speakers. We will also conduct a series of structured discussions that were raised in the conference.

Call for papers

We are interested in ongoing and published research on the
following themes:

· The political economy of European integration

· Monetary and fiscal policy in a monetary union

· Competitiveness, value chains and globalization

· The history of the European integration

· Austerity, fiscal multipliers, balance of payments

· Governance and democracy

· Dealing with debt overhangs

· Lessons from Latin America for the current Eurozone crisis

Young Scholars who have their abstracts accepted will receive accommodation at the conference, as well as a travel stipend of up to $300. !
